Merry Christmas Elizabeth! You’re part of NARAS!

Christmas has indeed come for me early, and on Halloween!!
Seems like I should be dressing up like a Grammy this year 🙂

As an artist/musician, who doesn’t want a Grammy? To own one of those shiny golden regal gramophones!  I have had the extraordinary luck to work with some really amazing people who have several of their own. When I step into their studios, I often take a beat to admire their Grammy awards and certificates. Secretly hoping that I would be able to have some of my own. I listen to so much music and want to support my fellow musicians who are up for awards every year, when I started writing music again – I made it a personal goal.  I did the research and realize there are some requirements you need to become a voting member. Some of which, a year ago, seemed rather astounding. Some colleagues told me it wasn’t a big deal if I didn’t make the voting requirements – but it is for me. To be able to listen to music and have a say and give recognition to other musicians who work so hard to put out these recordings is something I wanted to be part of. I knew I would have to work hard to make all the eligibility requirements and to be able to vote on key Grammy categories every year.

I was so happy to read this email from the Recording Academy today:

“I just wanted to give you an early Christmas gift and let you know you’ve been approved for Voting membership, congratulations!”

Although its a dream to earn a Grammy Award, I might never be eligible for one. There is no Holiday music category. I am hoping that this will be the first step to lobby for one. One foot in front of the other. One step at a time.
